Tech Center - A New Direction | टेक सेंटर - एक नई दिशा
One day I was watching the world outside the window of my house, and my gaze went to a little girl who seemed very innocent. My heart wanted to keep looking at her. Then a sudden ardor arose in me to reach out to her and I shouted, “Hey little girl, come here”. She was shy at first. She waited for while then came towards me. I took a look at her, and it felt like there were so many questions hidden behind her face. I asked her, “Is there any problem?”. She hesitated and said, "There is no problem". I replied, "Why are you so sad, what is your name?". She said in a timid voice, "My name is Soni". She was not saying anything but her face showed a lot of conflict inside her head.
After some time, it was revealed that Soni is from a very poor family. They didn’t their own house and they lived with her maternal grandparents, because of which there is always some quarrel in the house. Soni's father works as a day labourer and somehow runs his family. I found these out one day when I was working at my home and Soni came to visit me. I was very happy to see her again. I asked, “How are you? So, what brings you here?”. We made some small talk. When I wanted to know more about her, she spilled out all her problems to me. I was very heartbroken to hear that a young girl who should be living a carefree life is having to deal with so much at that age.
Soni’s life was like that of an oil lamp. She used her energy to shone light on everyone around her but the base of the lamp remains in utter darkness. Her grandmother used to teach in a school and was a good social worker. Soni used to go to school only for her grandmother and also helped her sometimes with her social work. But due to problems at home and the death of her grandmother, she started living in constant trouble.
Meanwhile, I asked Soni to join the Abhivyakti Foundation and FAT run 'Tech Center'. After a few attempts at convincing her, she started coming to the Tech Center. Some days in the Tech Center were not easy for her, she was having difficulty getting out of her home. After a few days passed, a change began to germinate, she began learning new things from the tech center. Like others in the tech center, Soni used to dream of achieving something in life. She wanted to remove the evils of this society as a social worker just like her grandmother. Finally, she had found the place that could support her dreams. Soni involved herself in the Tech Center by taking part in the social activities, learning computer skills, and through programs, outreaching to other girls in her community and village.
Today, Soni has graduated Grade 10 and has continued her studies in the city after leaving her village. Along with her studies, she tells her fellow villagers about the evils of the society, what’s right and what's wrong, provides information about social evils like child marriage, child labor, and is a proclaimer of rights to equalize girls and women.
Soni has a new road and new life through the Tech Center.
Today, when I look outside the window of my house, I see a happy person having fun with her friends, who is moving forward towards her dreams.

एक दिन मैं अपने घर की खिड़की से बाहर की दुनिया को देख रही थी तो मेरी नज़र एक छोटी सी लड़की पर गई जो देखने में मासूम सी लग रही थी। दिल कर रहा था बस उसे देखती रहूँ | फिर मेरे मन में एक ललक सी उठी उससे बात करने की और मैंने उसे खिड़की से आवाज लगा दी ...... ऐ गुडिया इधर आओ... वो पहले शर्मायी, कुछ देर रुकी और मेरे पास आ गई | मैने एक नजर उसे देखा, उसे देख कर ऐसा लग रहा था कि ना जाने इस चेहरे के पीछे कितने सवाल छिपे हों। मैंने उसका नाम पूछते हुये कहा “कोई परेशानी है क्या?” वह थोड़ी झिझकी और बोली “नही कोई परेशानी नही है”। मैंने पूछा, “ अच्छा तो उदास क्यों हो, नाम क्या है तुम्हारा?” उसने धीमे स्वर मे कहा, “मेरा नाम सोनी है”| वह कुछ भी नहीं बोल रही थी पर उसका चेहरा उसकी सारी परेशानियाओं को बयां कर रहा था|
कुछ अरसे बाद पता चला कि सोनी एक बहुत ही गरीब घर की लड़की है। उसका अपना घर भी नही है, वह अपने माता–पिता के साथ अपने ननिहाल में रहती है जिसके कारण घर मे हमेशा कुछ ना कुछ झगड़े होते ही रहते हैं। सोनी के पिता मजदूरी कर किसी तरह अपना घर चलाते हैं| ये बातें मुझे तब पता चली जब मैं अपने घर पर कुछ काम कर रही थी और वो मेरे पास आई। मुझे बहुत खुशी हुई। मैंने कहा, “सोनी कैसी हो? आओ, कैसे आना हुआ?” कुछ देर इधर उधर की बातें करने के बाद जब मैंने उसके बारे मे जानना चाहा तो उसने अपनी परेशानियों को मेरे साथ साझा किया। मुझे उसकी बातों को सुन कर बहुत दु:ख हो रहा था कि एक छोटी सी लड़की सपने देखने की उम्र में कितनी परेशानी का सामना कर रही है|
सोनी की जिंदगी उस जलते दिये जैसे ही थी, जो खुद जल कर दूसरों को रौशनी देता है और उसके नीचे ही सबसे ज्यादा अंधेरा होता है | उसकी नानी स्कूल मे पढाती थी और एक अच्छी सामाजिक कार्यकर्त्ता थी। सोनी अपनी नानी के ही स्कूल जाती थी और उनके साथ सामाजिक कार्यों में भी मदद करती थी। लेकिन घर की परेशानियाँ और नानी के चल बसने के कारण वह काफी परेशान सी रहने लगी। इसी बीच मैंने सोनी को अभिव्यक्ति फाउंडेशन और फैट द्वारा संचालित ‘टेक सेंटर’ से जुडने को कहा और थोड़े से प्रयास के बाद वह टेक सेंटर आने लगी। टेक सेंटर के कुछ दिन उसके लिए बहुत आसान नहीं थे, उसे अपने घर की परेशानियों से बाहर निकल पाने मे मुश्किल हो रही थी। कुछ दिन बीत जाने के बाद उसके अंदर बदलाव आने लगा, वह टेक सेंटर से नई नई बातें सीखने लगी। टेक सेंटर मे औरों की तरह सोनी भी सपने देखा करती थी कुछ बनने की। वह इस समाज की बुराइयों को दूर करना चाहती थी, वह भी अपनी नानी की तरह ही एक अच्छी सामाजिक कार्यकर्त्ता बनना चाहती थी। टेक सेंटर ही एक ऐसी जगह थी जो सोनी के सपनों को पूरा करने में उसका सहयोग कर सकता था | सोनी ने टेक सेंटर से कम्प्युटर सीखने के साथ साथ सेंटर की सामाजिक गतिविधियों में बढ-चढ़ कर हिस्सा लिया और कार्यक्रमों के जरिये गाँव के लोगों को, खास तौर पर लड़कियों को दिशा दिखाने लगी।
आज सोनी दसवीं क्लास पास कर चुकी है और उसने अपने गाँव से दूर शहर जाकर आगे के पढ़ाई जारी रखी है। पढ़ाई के साथ साथ वह गाँव के लोगों को समाज की बुराइयों के बारे में बताती है कि क्या सही है और क्या गलत है। बाल विवाह, बाल मजदूरी जैसी सामाजिक बुराइयों की जानकारी देती है। वह लड़कियों और महिलाओं के बराबरी के अधिकार की जबर्दस्त पैरवीकार है। टेक सेंटर के द्वारा ही सोनी को एक नई राह और नई जिंदगी मिली।
आज जब मैं अपने घर की खिड़की से बाहर देखती हूँ तो मुझे एक हँसता हुआ चेहरा दिखता है जो अपनी सहेलियों के साथ मज़े करती हुई नज़र आती है, जो अपने सपनो की ओर बढ़ती हुई दिखाई देती है।
