मुझे फैट में दो साल से ज्यादा हो गया है , मैने यहाँ पर टेक्नोलॉजी (बेसिक कंप्यूटर कोर्स और कैमरा) सीखा और साथ साथ वर्कशॉप के जरिये अपने हक़ के बारे में जाना ।आज मैं  भी टेक सेंटर की लड़कियों को पढ़ाती हूँ | टेक सेंटर मे लड़कियों को पढ़ाने में हम हमेशा कुछ न कुछ बदलाव करते रहते है ताकि लड़कियों को  हम और भी अच्छी तरह समझे ,जाने और उनका  आत्मविश्वास बढ़ाए। 

जैसे अभी हम लोग टेक सेंटर की लड़कियों को बेसिक कंप्यूटर, कैमरा सिखाते है उससे पहले हम उन्हें सबसे महत्वपूण बाते जरूर बताते है: टेक्नोलॉजी क्या है , उस से जुड़ी नोकरी , तकनीकी यंत्र की चीजे कैसे चलती है ,इसे किस तरह इस्तेमाल करते है, इन्हे लड़के ही नही लड़कियाँ भी चला सकती है| उन्हें हम सी पी यु के अंदर की चीजे छूने देते है ताकि वो इन चीजो को छूने से ना डरे | अक्सर लड़कियाँ इन चीजो से डरती है की हमारे छूने से यह खराब हो जाएगी और लड़के इन्हे छू सकते है तो नही खराब होगा | हम उनके मन से जो यह डर होता है वो दूर करने की कोशिश करते है | जब उनका आत्मविश्वाश आने लगता है वह सब चीजे छूती है और कोई प्रॉब्लम हो तो खुद ठीक करती है | हम उन्हें ये भी बताते है की  कंप्यूटर हमारे शरीर के अंगो की तरह ही काम करता है जैसे हमारे शरीर के अलग अलग तरह के भाग होते हो वैसे ही कंप्यूटर के भी भाग होते है |

हम जो भी काम करवाते है , कंप्यूटर में उससे पहले उनको लिखवाते है उनसे पूछते रहते है की उन्हें समझ आया की नही क्योकि लड़कियों को लगता है की हम कुछ भी बोलेगे तो लोग हमे डाटेगे मगर हम कहते है की बोलना चाहिए , कैसी भी बात हो बोलने में कभी हिचकिचाना नही चाहिए ,बोलने का सबको अधिकार होता है | हमे समझना चाइए की अगर हम चुप रहेगे तो लोगो को कैसे समझ आएगा की हम क्या कहना चाहते है | हम कम्प्युटर सिखाते वक़्त चित्रो के जरिये छेड़खानी , अपनी इच्छा जैसे चित्र बनाने को देते है , लिखते वक़्त घर मे होते भेदभाव को बताने को कहते है , मूवी मे आपको क्या समझ आया , वोर्क्षोप क्यो अच्छी लगी , अपनी पसंद और ना पसंद जैसी चिजे लिखवाते है | 

हम सिखाते वक़्त हमेशा किशोरियों से उनकी निजी जिंदगी की बाते भी करते रहते है जिस से हमे पता चलता रहता है की उनकी जिंदगी मे क्या उतार चड़ाव आ रहे है | बाते एक ऐसा माध्यम होता है जिस से किशोरियाँ हमारे बहुत करीब आ जाती है | हम टेक सेंटर मे एक दूसरे की बात का सम्मान करना , एक दूसरे की परेशानी को समझने और उसके लिए मिलकर कदम उठाने पर ज़ोर देते है | किसी को भी बिना जाने उसके बारे मे बाते नहीं बनानी चाहिए | हम सभी अपने अधिकारो के लिए लड़ रहे है और एक कमजोर होगा तो दूसरा उसकी मदद के लिए है यह विश्वास जगाने की कोशिश करते है |

It’s been over two years at FAT for me and I have learned basics of technology at the Tech Center, including basic computer skills and camera course, while also understanding and learning about my rights by attending various workshops organized by FAT. Today, I teach girls at the Tech Center ensuring that they learn not just technology but understand and realize their rights and build their self-confidence.

We teach the young girls who come to the center not just basic computer and camera skills but teach them some very essential rights and information about their existence as young girls in a patriarchal society. What is technology? What are the various job opportunities for a technology literate person? How do technological devices work? How to use such appliances? How its usage does not necessarily need to be gendered. We let girls work and play around with technical objects so that any inhibitions or hesitations they may have regarding usage is cleared. Usually, girls are afraid of experimenting with technology. There is a perception that boys are better equipped and adept at handling these things. At Tech Center, we try working around this fear of technology and helping them build confidence to use it on their own without taking help from anyone. Once they learn to master technology, they become confident individuals who solve their problems on their own. We also tell them that a computer and its parts works exactly like our body parts—with each part having a designed characteristic and responsibility. 

We train girls to be vocal with their problems and express anything that bothers them—whether or not related to technology. We work towards shedding their inhibitions and making them understand that everyone has the right to speak. The Tech Center becomes a space for these young girls to express themselves and not remain quiet about any experience that is bothering them. 

Using technology as a medium and not just a tool, we teach them about harassment using pictures on the computer and encourage them to draw some of their own. We ask them to write on discrimination that they face at homes or outside. We screen socially relevant movies and ask them what appealed to them the most. We also conduct regular workshops based on their likes and dislikes. 

While teaching and training these young girls, we always ensure that they are open and vocal about their personal lives so that we know the kind ups and downs that they are facing on a daily basis. Dialogue, then, becomes a very important tool through which these girls build closer relationships with us. At the Tech Center, we learn how to respect each other, understand each others’ problems and learn to work on it together. It is always our endeavour to educate these girls about their rights, foster in them the spirit to fight and build and strengthen their hopes, while they learn to handle latest developments in everyday technology.
