Position Summary: Through our Young Women’s Leadership Program (YWLP) we aim to build leadership amongst adolescent girls and young women through the innovative use of technology. We work intensively with disadvantaged girls to develop their agency and support them to raise their voices for their rights, while also providing them access to technology, building their technical skills and helping them to connect with opportunities around them. The program has multiple elements and is a multiyear engagement for each participant.
 
The Program Associate will work at the implementation level of the YWLP, planning, developing and facilitating activities. The role will require an individual to be comfortable engaging, mentoring and supporting young girls to become empowered through the use of technology. The Program Associate should be a tech savvy person with good skills in photography and video making and should be able to use a range of tech-based tools used to produce media products. They should be an excellent communicator and facilitator, alongside efficiently managing their work and time and completing documentation.

Main Responsibilities
  • Take part in the delivery of the YWLP program, participating in the development, progression and implementation.  
  • Taking classes on different photography, film-making, story-telling, and other new media skills with program participants. Working with program participants to produce different media products that can be used by them for campaigning and by FAT for fundraising and outreach.
  • Ensure all internal and external, program, financial and donor required documentation, is completed and submitted correctly and efficiently. 
  • Actively cultivate new advocacy and partnership opportunities, and successfully handle existing ones. 
  • Provide necessary information required to mobilize resources, build and support fundraising opportunities. Manage all arrangements for any visits to program sites by funders and other partners.
  • Work as part of a young, developing team, including mutual facilitation of learning and providing informal mentoring support. 
  • Contribute to the planning and regular facilitating of program content, such as workshops, sometimes covering sensitive topics. 
  • Assist with the ongoing monitoring, evaluation, learning and development of the program. 
  • Foster ongoing effective, professional relationships with parties such as donors, stakeholders, partner organisations and external consultants. 
  • Recognise and help to enable any necessary capacity building.  
  • Compile and submit material which is informative and engaging, to be used for marketing and communication. 
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required
  • Understanding and active commitment to the feminist movement in India.
  • Proficient use of computers, preferably in multiple OS. Good technical aptitude with an interest in learning about new technologies.
  • Excellent skills in photography, video-making, storytelling. Evidence of experience in working with these tools needed.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Hindi and English.
  • Knowledge and association with local women’s rights groups and organisations would be an asset. Experience of working in gender and STEM would be advantageous.
  • Experience of working within development organisations at the research and/or project implementation level would be advantageous, especially if on the rights of girls and women.
  • A familiarity with monitoring and evaluation processes.
  • Very good facilitation skills, including the ability to give excellent instructions and guide effective self-reflection sessions in Hindi.
  • Willingness to mentor and provide support in the continual learning of others, especially young leaders emerging from the program. Efficiency in meeting donor requirements, such as updates and reports.
  • Good report writing skills, including comfort in collecting key information and presenting and documenting this in an understandable fashion.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, exchanging knowledge and ideas, respecting and helping others to develop.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including a positive, can-do attitude and open mind.
  • Knowledge of and connection with FATs mission, vision, values, principles, programs and services.
  • Ability to work independently and under self-management, with high energy and a motivation for learning and developing.
  • Capacity to communicate effectively with people at all levels of work, as FAT is working towards operating within an increasingly horizontal structure.
  • Effective time and workload management and ability to juggle multiple complex priorities at one time.

Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Range 25,000 INR to 30,000 INR gross salary per month. Relocation expenses are not available. Joining: As soon as possible.
